Team Manager Quick Start
- Create a team contact card or list for everyone on the team to help facilitate carpooling and organization.
- No team is allowed to participate in any games or scrimmages with teams from outside the association until you've been notified that your roster is "Approved". Failing to follow these rules will result in fines and possible sanctions from District 8 and Minnesota Hockey.
- Get Dibs deposit checks from all families who are not exempt and did not give a check during tryouts. The list for exempt families and Dibs details can be found on the Volunteering webpage.
- For 16U/Junior Gold only: get $100 jersey deposit checks from everyone. Need these to get the jerseys. Contact the Equipment Coordinator at equipmentcoordinator@eaganhockey.com to schedule up a time to pick up your jerseys/socks.
- Agree on a slush fund amount that people can live with. Historically, it's somewhere between $150 and $250 per season. This covers things like referee payments for scrimmages, extra tournament fees, hotel rooms/meals for paid coaches at tournaments, etc. Open a checking account or run it out of your own. Either way, make a Google doc shared with your team for financial transparency.
- Split the team parents into 3 or 4 groups of minor officials to run the clock, score book, and penalty boxes for home games and scrimmages. Keep in mind that each group should have a competent clock operator and someone who knows how to count shots and mark the book properly. This is more of an issue at the Squirt level. Remind the parents that if they are assigned these roles, they are, in fact, minor officials. Cheering and yelling are not permitted and objectivity is required. Training videos can be found on the right column of this webpage.
- Share the SafeSport locker room policy with your parents. The link to SafeSport is on the right column of this webpage.
- Make sure to get a number of parents screened to take care of these locker room requirements. Screening is available here: http://screening.minnesotahockey.org/
- Get roster labels and Coaches CEP labels printed. See the templates on the right column of this webpage.
Getting these tasks completed quickly will make for a much easier season.
